Copies of the report 'Life after the BBC' will be sent to all members of the Association in early November.

October 2008

3852 BBC pensioners took part in the survey 'Life after the BBC'. The results of the survey will be announced on 21 October at a special conference to be held at the Friends Meeting House, Euston Road, London NW1 starting at 2.00pm.

Among the speakers will be Peter Fiddick and Peter Dunscombe. A meeting for members in Scotland will be held on 23 October at BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay, Glasgow starting at 2.15pm. All welcome.

The 20th Anniversay survey 'Life after the BBC' will be launched at the end of May to find out more and to take part please click the link in the right hand column.

125 members attended the AGM on 22 April. They ratified an increase in the membership fee to £10.00 starting immediately for new members and in 2009 for existing members. Life membership increases to £50.00 and the age at which it may be taken rises to 80.

Regional Meetings are being planned for the autumn.21 October in London and 23 October in Glasgow. Further information to follow.

The next pension increase based on the December RPI will be 4%.

This year the Association celebrates its 20 th anniversary. To mark the occasion we intend to conduct a survey of all our members on the theme of 'Life after the BBC'. We also hope to stage a conference in November on aspects of age.

BBCPA Key Objectives

  • To protect the fund and to ensure that pensioners' interests are fairly taken into account by the Trustees in distributing the fund.
  • To maintain a dialogue with BBC Management and BBC Pensions Trust Ltd and to ensure that they and the trustees are aware of pensioners' interests and take appropriate action to recognise these interests.
  • To maintain active contact with other similar organisations. To monitor legislation and other matters relating to occupational pensions.
