MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
The BBC has provided its staff with one of the best pension schemes in the UK . But there is always room for improvement.
Until 1988, when the Association was formed, pensioners had no say in the running of the BBC Pension Scheme.
Changes to the management of the Fund were approved without consultation and pensioners got no extra benefit from the Funds financial surplus, while the Corporation and staff took contribution holidays.
Now thanks to the Association's campaigns, we have a pensioner elected Trustee on the board of the BBC Pension Trust. We have also established a direct channel of communication with Management in regular meetings in which pensioners' concerns, including proposals for improved benefits, can be raised.
However these are times of change for pensioners generally, so the work of the BBC Pensioners' Association is just as important now as it was when the Association was founded. So do join us.
Membership is open to anyone receiving a pension or who will receive a deferred pension from the BBC Pension Scheme. Associate Membership (without voting rights) is available to existing staff who are due to leave or retire from the BBC in the next twelve months.
